Senior Farm Technician, Coorow WA (REF: 479366)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Coordinator or Senior Farm Technician to join a progressive farming enterprise with a 12,500Ha cropping program near Coorow, WA (280km north of Perth). This role involves working closely with the Operations Manager to develop operational and agronomic plans. The role will be tailored to suit particular skills and strengths.

About the Role: Senior Farm Technician
  • Operating and maintaining a late model SP sprayer
  • Providing support to the Operations Manager in farm activities including spreading, deep ripping, seeding, harvesting, maintenance and general farm duties
  • Working closely with the Operations Manager to develop operational and agronomic plans
Operations Coordinator
  • Operating and maintaining a late model SP sprayer
  • Providing support to the Operations Manager in farm activities including spreading, deep ripping, seeding, harvesting, maintenance and general farm duties
  • Provide input to the annual crop rotations and inputs including chemicals, fertiliser, seed
  • Assist with planning the timing, resourcing, and preparation of the safe and efficient completion of all operational activities. Including but not limited to; paddock clean-up and preparation, road maintenance, soil amelioration, stubble management, firebreak management, fertiliser application, chemical application, seeding, harvesting
  • Supervising, training, and co-ordinating permanent and casual farm staff including task observations
  • Crop inspections for diagnosis of agronomic issues, spray timing, input into spray plans, and spray drift management. Including working with agronomic business partners.
  • Co-ordinate haulage activities e.g. fertiliser deliveries, and contract haulage when required
  • Cost control for all operational activities i.e. minimise wastage, multiple quote sourcing
  • Record keeping for all cropping inputs
  • Lead and document the weekly operational planning meeting
About You:
  • Minimum 2 years boom spray operation 
  • Preference for 5+ years cropping experience
  • Will consider training someone with a passion for ag but a lower level of skill - a fantastic opportunity for an up-and-comer
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and honest 
  • Strong attention to detail and capable of working independently
  • Ability to train and supervise employees to successfully complete their duties
  • Ability to solve problems and overcome challenges using innovation and persistence
  • Willingness to further learning in agronomy and modern conventional farming practices
  • Manual C Class Driver’s License as a minimum, preferably HC or MC license
  • Agricultural or mechanical qualifications are desirable but not mandatory
