Job Description
Ready for a 2IC role? Working alongside the owner, you’ll step into a diverse role covering seeding, spraying, harvest and general farm maintenance. You’ll operate broadacre machinery including CLAAS harvester, Bourgault bar, and CASE sprayer. This is a great opportunity for someone reliable, hands-on and keen to take on more responsibility in a genuine 2IC position.
About the Farm:
This is a well-established broadacre cropping operation based near the stunning Cape Riche with productive cropping land. The community at Wellstead is active and welcoming, with nearby sporting clubs.
About You:
You’re someone who doesn’t stress the small stuff, gets on well with people, and can take initiative. Mechanical skills and fabrication knowledge would be a big plus. GPS experience, ChemCert, and a HR licence are desirable but not essential. This employer is seeking a right-hand person – someone to share the workload and enjoy the job together.
Machinery experience can be taught, but attitude is everything.
Duties Include:
- Operation of modern machinery;
- Assist with all seeding, spraying and harvest operations;
- Maintenance of sheds, yard, and general property upkeep;
- Servicing and minor repairs on equipment;
- Supporting casual staff during peak periods.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience operating seeding/harvest equipment preferred;
- Mechanically minded with problem-solving ability;
- Physically fit and comfortable working independently;
- HR licence and ChemCert ideal but not essential.

Whats on offer:
- Full-time permanent role;
- 45 hours per week Mon–Fri, plus seasonal overtime;
- One day off per fortnight during quieter periods;
- $40/hour + super, negotiable depending on experience;
- On-farm solid brick 3×1 home, freshly painted with aircon and wood fire with a new kitchen scheduled in 2025;
- Separate 3×1 brick granny flat included – ideal for a large family or shared setup;
- Utilities (electricity, gas) and work vehicle included.
