Cattle Overseer, Kojonup region WA (REF: 611735)

Our client based in the Kojonup/Frankland region of rural WA are looking for an experienced/Skilled Stock Manager with extensive livestock skills and knowledge for a fixed term position for up to 12 months. Their property consists of up to 900 Angus cattle as well as approx. 700 sheep, situated between the two farming properties in Mobrup and Bokerup, WA. Duties will require handling and feeding the cattle, maintaining fencing (including electrics), harvesting and property maintenance as well as drenching, feeding, and mustering sheep, liaising with shearing contractors as well as machinery maintenance. In return our client is offering a fantastic hourly rate, accommodation – suitable for families, couples, and singes, various bonus schemes as well as a generous utility allowance and work vehicle provided.

About the Role:

• Start date: Immediate;
• Operate broadacre machinery including: seeders, headers, spreaders and sprayers;
• Oversee up to 900 angus cattle daily;
• Assist with cropping if required;
• Oversee a feedlot system;
• Assist with labor budget plans to enable business growth;
• General yard maintenance, erecting fencing & testing etc;
• Welfare and health checks for cattle;
• Operate all types of machinery and tractors; 

About you:

• Understanding of pasture rotation practices;
• Over 2 years + of working experience with cattle;
• Experience with around 400 breeding cows;
• Ability to grain feed the calves;
• Ability to work on your own daily and manage your work load;
• Initiative and problem solving skills;
• Mechanically minded - general maintenance & repairs;
• Excellent listening and communication skills;
• Spraying experience – desirable;
